TIED TO THE SAME FATE
-
It was essential to me that this series remained completely authentic, created only with wild animals in their natural habitats and with genuine Maasai individuals whose lives remain intertwined with the land they call home. That commitment made this project three years in the making, and it would never have been possible without the help of friends and Maasai contacts, to whom I will be forever grateful, not least the wonderful people who chose to be part of this project, some of whom have become friends in the process.
Yet this delicate relationship between people, wildlife, and the land is under growing strain. Climate change has brought longer droughts, unpredictable seasons, and harsher conditions, placing tremendous pressure on both the wild animals and the Maasai communities. Their traditional pastoral way of life depends on vast open landscapes and the freedom to move with their herds. As land becomes increasingly fragmented and environmental pressures intensify, both wildlife and the Maasai face challenges that threaten the continuity of their shared existence. This series seeks to honour that bond while acknowledging the fragile future they now navigate together.
Living here in Kenya has made me realise how deeply connected their fates are. They truly are tied to the same fate.
